Anantapur: In a shot in the arm to Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious goal to achieve 72-GW renewable energy capacity by 2029, ReNewCorp has re-entered the State after a gap of six years to kick-start work on developing India’s largest single site renewable energy hybrid complex in Anantapur district.
The foundation stone for the project was laid at a function held at Bathepalle village in Guntakal constituency on Friday by IT, Electronics and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh in the presence of Industries Minister TG Bharat and Finance Minister P Keshav.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh said the return of ReNew to Andhra Pradesh will usher in a new chapter in the State’s quest to position itself as a leader in RE under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The project proponent was convinced to return to the State when Lokesh met Sumant Sinha, Chairman & CEO of ReNew, during the World Economic Forum at Davos. This high-level engagement paved the way for ReNew return, ending a six-year investment hiatus in Andhra Pradesh.
The Phase-1 of the project envisages generation of 587-MW solar, 250-MW wind, 415-MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with an investment of Rs7,000 crore.
